No. Every AI feature Apna School ships into pipeline will be released as a free upgrade to every existing subscription — same flat ₹4,999 / year, no “AI tier”, no per-prediction fee, no token-based metering. This is our standing commitment for everything Apna School builds: features that go in the ₹4,999 yearly bundle stay in the ₹4,999 yearly bundle. The only running cost beyond the yearly subscription is the school’s WhatsApp / SMS wallet (a usage-based cost the school controls), and that has nothing to do with AI. Most competitor school ERPs charge ₹25,000–₹75,000 / year extra for an “AI module” — usually for the same reports the base product already had. We won’t.

The dropout risk flag is a per-student score the principal will see on the student profile, summarising the likelihood that this student will not return to the school next academic session. It’s built on signals Apna School already captures: attendance trend over the last 3 months, fee delay pattern, division drop across consecutive exams, multi-sibling family signal (when one child shows risk, the others in the same family often follow), and RTE concession completion status. The output is a simple Low / Medium / High flag with the top 3 contributing reasons. The principal acts on it with a parent meeting, scholarship discussion or fee-relief conversation — well before the family quietly takes a TC. This is a particularly high-value tool for Tier-2/3 city schools where dropout-risk awareness today is anecdotal rather than systematic.

Because rebadging is dishonest, and Indian school principals have started spotting it. Most school ERP “AI features” in market today are class-average reports, simple grade-trend bar charts, or fee-defaulter lists — valuable, but not AI. Calling them AI inflates expectations, and the principal who paid the “AI premium” resents the product when they realise. Apna School’s position is the reverse: ship every dashboard the school actually needs as a real built-in feature in the ₹4,999 / year base subscription (and we have — today’s collection, defaulter list, class-wise attendance, division distribution, route-wise revenue), and add real AI on top when it does something the existing dashboards can’t. The AI features are trained only on anonymised aggregate data from consenting partner schools. Per-school parent / student data is never shared with other schools or third parties — tenant isolation is enforced at the database level, the application level and the inference level. When the AI flags a student in your school as “dropout risk: high”, the inference happens on the school’s own data only; no data leaves your school’s tenant for the prediction. Aggregate model training (which we publish a yearly transparency report on) uses fully anonymised numeric features — never names, addresses, parent contact, photos or any PII. The strongest AI predictions need 2–3 academic sessions of data. Schools that join Apna School today and stay through 2026–27 and 2027–28 will have rich data ready for the deepest predictions. For schools with less history, the fee-collection forecast and attendance anomaly detection features still work well from a single session, because they’re seasonal patterns rather than per-student longitudinal predictions. Even a school onboarding mid-2026 will get useful AI signals in the same session.
